engine swap for 98 civic coupe

i was thinking about doing an engine swap in my 98 civic. i was wonderin what be the best engine to swap into my car.

This question is asked non stop on all forums for many differnt reasons be it wanting the fastest sleeper or just a little more pep on a tight budget, well I think that giving a simple write up will help alot.
This is not car specific, so for some cars mentioned swaps might be harder or eaiser.
First of all how much do you have and how much work are you willing to do?
Depending on your car can really make changes in swap plans, there is no reason you should swap out a GSR out its a great motor and unless your a pro racer who wants to stuff a F22 in for some 9 secs dont worry, many honda cars have wonderful power plants, and should not need to worry. So think do I really need to pull this thing?
For those with lower trimed cars with the great gas saving and long life yet no power we will probbly want to swap. so this is for you.
D motors: dirt cheap about half are worthless for building up. Unless you want to keep a lower cost or if you have to keep one for racing, good cheap pep if you are going to put a D in your car I ilke the y8 myself.
B motors: the Big Bad Bs hondas b16 motor is like the Chevy 350 of imports its just awesome on all levels low price can be good cheap fun or an evil 800 HP
monster. The other Bs are all great motors too each with ups and downs but such a wonderful set of motors my first sugestion when swapping.
H motors: the H 22 and H23 out of ludes are big take more work to fit and can be made giant i've seen a few street lude with size of 2500cc and more! unless your really hardcore i'd stray from Hs
F motors: closely related to the Hs in size and while lower in power have awesome flowing heads. f20c *s2k motor is another story and not even covered*
K motors: The replacement to the beloved B motors have hondas New I-VTEC size of 2L and up only just starting to be made aviable to public and tuners but showing up as one amazing family of motors. Right now the price is very high, and swapping is a pain but thats changing.

Whats Cheapest swap? EW 13 now go away
Whats best for boost? I like the b18c1 can't hold as much boost as the
b18a/b but makes more power with less psi and much better head.
Whats going to last longest? the motor you treat well
Whats best for N/A K motors are starting to even shame the f20c and b18c5 for n/a setups k20R would be best.

go LS+y21 tranny or GSR
b18c1 would be my first pick and if you can get deals and DIY on install you probbly can swing one.

thanks for the advice. do u know how much that would cost? i was also thinking about a h22. could i put one of those in my car and if so how much would that cost and would it be a good investment?

h22 is one of the hardest swaps.

The H22 is about 180 lbs heavier than the stock motor. You'll want to invest in suspension (stiffer springs, new shocks, etc) and upgraded brakes (slotted rotors and upgrade pads) at the very least after the swap.
Also, you'll likely loose your a/c and power steering, of that matters...and you WILL want to upgrade the radiator while your at it. The civic radiator can work with a B series, but you'll want more cooling with the H22. Get a koyo, fluidyne, Teg radiator, etc...something upgraded. The Del Sol vtec or 99-00 Civic Si radiator may work, as those have a thicker core. It'd stick with the mentioned B18C1 or B18B1 if it was me, but thats my :2cents:.
