As soon as i get back from Carlisle and get a mile away from my house i get pulled over and the cop tells me that i have to take my tint off. I have the back window and the rear side windows done in 20%. the driver and the passenger aren't tinted. thought that i was legal and i still think that i am. The cop told me that only trucks can have tint on them. Anyone know PA's law on window tint ?

...sounds like bs to me..as far as I understood, PA's laws were like most states and you just couldnt have it on the front windows...but I've never had tint on any of my pa registered vehicles, so I cant speak from personal experience.
trucks?? wtf??

u r allowed to have the back window and the back side windows done. i had mine spray painted black in my old civic:D . i here now that inspection stations got a notice that they can inspect cars with 35% tint in all windows not just the back ones.

i know NY you can have whatever you want on stationary and rear door windows, but fronts must be at least 35%.

In canada you are allowed to have the 2 rear windows tinted as dark as you want them to be.
But for the front 2, you have to be able to clearly see the driver/passenger.
The rear window also can be tinted.. you just have to be able to see out of it.

There's a huge double standard there... I see vans all the time (and pickups too) that have an air-brushed mural on the back windows, and they don't get busted! WTF? I mean, if you took out the glass in your 2 rear side windows and your hatch and filled the holes in with sheet metal, that wouldn't be illegal, despite the fact that you can't see through it! I also see all kinds of cars/trucks that have vinyl graphics all over the windows, makes it impossible to see inside, they don't get busted!
There's a way around it though. Sometimes you can get your doctor to write a prescription for really dark tinted windows (if you complain of headaches from road glare or something). In that case, you can even get your windshield fully tinted...
