engine swaps/tranny's

What engine combo's (head and block combo's) would have the potential to produce the most power, and I would like to be able to put a 6spd Type-R tranny on it, or is there any 6 speed they make I could use. It is a 93 Integra LS-S, so what engines can just drop right in?

Thanks

there is no 6-spd type r tranny, and what the hell is a LS-S (only rs,gs,ls, gs-r for that year), as far as just dropping right in, only the ls/gs/rs engine from 90-93 will just drop right in, it is the B18a.

LS-S is LS Special, its exactly the same as an LS as far as I know. I'm kind of a noob so, I don't know... and I know someone who has a 6 speed in thier type-r... so they must have them, but it ould be aftermarket, I don't know.

ok so you have an SE (special edition) I forgot about them. It is a LS with leather seats as far as I know or something along those lines. As far as a type R with a 6 speed, well i just don't think so, I have never heard of one nor have I ever heard anyone mention or have one. It must be some sort of aftermarket tranny because they certainly did not come with a 6 speed. Just out of curiosity what year is the one that you know of?

And to elaborate on my last post (ran out of time before) A B18a will drop in with no modification because it is what you already have. a newer engine from 94 and up will require wiring harness, computer etc. and alot more work. However it will bolt up to your tranny and motor mounts, any B-series engine will (B18a/B17a/B18b/B18c/B18c-5/B16a/B16B/B20).

As far as trannies go, you have a cable tranny in yours now not hydraulic therefore a tranny from a 94+ integra will be more hassle than is worth. Either stay with what you have or look for a 92-93 gs-r tranny or a B16 cable tranny (can also be found with LSD which is nice)

or you can keep your long-geared tranny now and go turbo...

:nono: don't just don't even start me with this one.

3rd grade math should explain it shorter gears are better unless you need to go 200 in a honda

wait no I dare you to challege me call bs i feel like unleashing a few paragraphs of info.

I'd love to meet the guy who started that stupid rumor. I bet hes hiding on the grassy knowl *sp* :lol2:

shorter gears equal faster acceleration... period. if you need longer gears to allow your turbo to spool then you have the wrong turbo... period.

there's alot of debate on this issue but when it comes down to it a longer geared tranny and a shorter geared tranny regardless of setup (as long as they are the same) will be slower than the shorter geared tranny car.

So like I said B16 cable tranny or 2nd gen gs-r tranny = best bet.

even if all you did was change the tranny to a shorter geared tranny from the long LS tranny with your stock LS engine you would notice a difference.

As an example my gs-r had some speedometer problems a few years ago. anyone who knows vtec sytems knows that if the car's computer isn't reading 25ish or faster vtec will not work so I was essentially running a B17a with no vtec so I had no torque or hp and I could still run my friends 92 LS and win by about a car. I credit this to gearing seeing as I'm probly not the best driver and I doubt he is either.

Anyway regardless of the tangent I just took, a long geared tranny will not benefit you in acceleration despite what numerous people will try and tell you.

EDIT: Oh and don't even try and say that a LS engine is better for turbo either. A non-vtec engine may be able to run slightly more boost in stock form but the vtec engine already has the HP edge to start, and once you build the block and head which is a wise decision to do first the vtec turbo will almost certainly always smoke the non-vtec turbo engine.

Aren't the new Type R's 6-speeds (k-series)? Are you sure the car you saw didn't just have a Type R badge on it and have a 6-speed shift knob?

his profile says he's from new mexico or something so I doubt he saw a type R rsx. As far a a 6 speed shift knob on a integra or a type R sticker on an 6spd rsx...well that is possible but I wouldn't expect much gain from it:icon16: haha. entirely possible however.

That could be possable, I never thought of it that way, anyway the car isn't from the US, its in europe ATM, and I have not talked to the guy in a while, but next time I do I'll ask him exactly what it is... I didn't think it was an RSX, but I really don't know the newer ones at all, so very well could have been. Plus the fact that I am a noob to cars, although I know the basics of how they work and am pretty mechanically inclined I can figure most thinkgs out... But when it comes to just naming off stuff like that about cars I really don't know... and as far as the longer gears.. simple physics makes it impossable for them to accelarate faster than shorter ones. Thanks for all the input on this too, helps a ton. Also do you think it would be worth it to put a new engine LS block with a VTEC head on it, like a GSR, I hear people rave about it all the time, then others say it is hugely over-rated.. just would like info from people that seem to know what the hell they are doing, like most of what I see on here.
