1999 Chevy 2500 Crewcab Z-71 ???????

I am looking at a pickup that is a 99 Chevrolet 2500 Crewcab Z-71. Did they actually make a Z-71 in a 3/4 ton or did someone just slap a sticker on it and how do I tell????? Thanks.
