305 ---> 427

I've searched, but haven't really found anything. Anybody ever do it? I'm sure someone has..

On a serious note, there some folks over on TGO that have done some 383 swaps even one working on putting a 502 in a 3rd gen over there.

big problem I can see is losing the daily usage of it 'cause it probobly won't pass inspections where applicable.

Damn, throw that new LS7 (it's a 427 i believe) in there and you'll be all set. I don't know. How big of cubes has anyone put in a 3rd gen?

However I charge quite a few bucks for the quality of the tune.

Yeah I'd like to know how they did it. My friend's got a 427 in his '79, but that's a little different haha

I figure the bay would be big enough to throw a bigblock in there, with some modifications. Would definitely need to beef up chassis and frame (samething, right?), i believe a motor that big would twist the car in two.

A buddy of mine swapped a 396 for the 305 in his '85 IROC. He didn't have sub-frame connectors at the time, and then he put in a 427 and added sfc's. After he ran it a few times it seemed to be tracking funny, and he found a huge crack in part of the rear sub-frame.

It could have happened while he ran the 396 without the sfc's but he doesn't think so.

You'd probably need a roll cage to stabilize the uni-body structure.

Are you gonna run fuel injection or carb? Because it will screw your mlg comletely.Say 383 plus a double pumper,uh? Not worth it as an everyday driver even i there are tricks do emissions. Stick a turbo on it its better.

apparetly he was pming john threats on members lives, and thats what ended up him getting banned... kinda creepy if you pm ppl to tell them you are gonna kill or hurt someone else from a public Forum.

Well I dont have one that runs because I dont feel like getting rid of my paper weight. See if I wanted I could buy another 3rd gen or 4th, all I have to do is get rid of my Camaro. So.. its my choice to not have one that runs, unlike you who had it sitting for a long time. :lol:
