I just built the soft top version, and the kit is good, and fits very well but I would be careful with the pin holes and mold lines. Nearly all the parts needed sanding and primer. The dash also needs a lot of test fitting, so as you get the side door panels right, or it can look bad if done incorrectly. Also the rear suspension and axle is a bugger to fit, I recommend white glue to tack the suspension arms onto the axle, CA glue the driveshaft to the axle, leave it to set, and then CA glue the whole lot to the chassis. Also spray the fuel tank black, as the build guide misses that. Also watch the front light lenses, they can sit a little proud. I had to file the actual light parts to get the lenses to fit flush, and you can use a marker pen to make the black out outlines around the lenses. Looks killer when done right.

I would try and flock the carpets, looks so much better with flocked carpets. I built mine box stock other then I opted for Nissan Cherry Red mixed in real automotive paints with a good few coats of clear, but I think new rims could make it look really great. I didn't wire the engine, and I think some pipes are missing in the engine bay.

check out my build progress in my sig for some ideas and some ref pictures, but one thing you must do.. Spray the engine and exhuast in Alclad II paints, as it looks soooo much better..

have fun, Tamiya kits are good fun, I enjoyed building mine.

The intercooler pipes are missing if you are doing the Twin Turbo version. Here are some "kickass" Z's.
