has anyone thought of modeling a racing pick-up similar to a NASCAR?

well theres an idea :)

i believe u may need to buy 2 model kits, 1 off NASCAR kit and 1 off standard pick-up ie Ford F150 or similar

take the wheels, decals, seat, rollcage and dashboard from the NASCAR kit and use them on the pick-up model - scrapping original wheels, dashboard and seats plus a few modifications to the bodywork

here are the pics on this site of pick-up racing and more info on pick-up racing in the UK:-

Uh..We have NasTruck in the US here. Last time I noticed, we had Doge, Ford, Chevy and even Toyota teams. I do like your idea tho. Just not a new one.

I have seen a few racing trucks based on our bigger trucks, but I think they were mostly build for exhibitions or promotional gimmicks. There might be/have been a small racing series for them but nothing on the level like in Europe.

There is/was a big-rig class at Pike's Peak, and it is wild to see these big trucks hurtling up the mountain.

NASCAR started their truck series around 1994, and it was pretty popular early on because they went to a lot of the smaller tracks the big series didn't go to and a lot of big NASCAR names competed once in a while or owned team. Now it's just a mirror of the Nextel Cup series and I have no interest in it anymore. In the late 80's there was a road racing class for pickups, but they were based on stock pickups and not tube-frame racers like NASCAR stock cars.

Those UK Racing trucks look cool, AMT and Revell/Monogram made Truck series kits, AMT made a Chevy and a Ford, Revell/Monogram made a Chevy, Ford, and a Dodge. you'll prohibably want to find a Revell kits, becouse it 1:24th scale, and the AMT's are 1:25th
