Dash Light

Question for you guys, the dash lights are so not bright at all, how much of a pain in the ass is it to replace them, are they expensive, thanks guys, appreciate it!

Easy to replace but I wouldn't know where to find them.

and how would i replace it, or get access to it, to see what bulb it is

Where are the lights you're talking about? Behind the gauge cluster or behind the climate control on the console? Do you have an automatic or manual transmission?

The lights behind the climate control are an immense pain in the ass. The lights behind the gauge cluster are a snap to replace. Expect to pay Honda about $80 or so for the seven bulbs you need for the gauge cluster.

You can buy aftermarket LED's to replace them, but I've had them burn out after not so long so I went back to OEM bulbs and I've been much happier. The OEM Honda bulbs come with a light blue light diffuser that covers each bulb which you need for proper light dispersement in the cluster. I doubt any aftermarket bulb will have those.

You're looking for #19 and #4 on the bottom left - the gauge face diagram. My Honda dealer could only get #19 but they'll work just the same. You want seven of #19 and that should cover it. This is for a manual transmission cluster. You can order from the above website and it's a lot cheaper than going to the dealer for the same OEM bulbs. This site only sells genuine Honda parts.

climate control

Ok. I had a similar problem with that too. Unlike the cluster where you twist the bulb sockets in, the climate control bulbs just push in to their sockets and the sockets snap into place (the sockets are directly wired behind the climate control so you can't remove them from the cluster - they're dangling from wires). Either you have dim bulbs, or one or both sockets have come out and are hanging slightly behind where they're supposed to be (which is what happened to me).

Only two bulbs light up the climate control. You have to remove the armrest console cover, the console around the stereo, unscrew the four scews holding in the stereo and pull that out. Behind the stereo and underneath the climate control is a single steel screw holding the climate control in. You'll need one of those stubby short phillips screwdrivers. Take that out and you can push the climate control out. I was unable to disconnect the climate control cables in the back so I had to shove my hand behind it to get to the light sockets. You also have to dismantle the face of the climate control to get to the bulbs. You'll see the bulbs sticking out, but the sockets are behind it so you can pull the bulbs right out but will need to hold the socket in place in the back to push the new bulbs in and to snap the sockets back into place.

The climate control uses the same bulbs as the cluster so two of #19 should do the trick. Just pull the bulbs out and push them into the climate control sockets. Also test the lights before reassembling. If they don't work, take the light out and flip it over and push it back in - the pins might be reversed.

Then reassemble and enjoy seeing things again.
