Brakes holding pressure

We have a 1992 APV Lumina van with ABS. When we step on the brakes (whether the car is running or not) the right front holds pressure and stays locked even after releasing the pedal. The brake only lets go if we crack the brake line and relieve the pressure. What is wrong with it?

Either the caliper is sticking, or hose is crimped / bad. My son's Beretta had a bad hose, locked up until we replaced. Have you run over anything in the road? If it releases after you unhook the brake line my bet is on the hose.

So this would have nothing to do with the secondary (ABS) master cylinder then? We'll comb over the lines and see what we can find. The caliper is free because we took it off on the weekend and cleaned all the sliders. The piston moved in and out easily enough.

I would not think so, although I am going by my own experiances on these things. Have had calipers and hoses BOTH cause the brakes to freeze, have never had the ABS system cause it.

It ended up being the flex hose. We removed it and couldn't even force 100lbs air pressure through it. Gonna cut it open when I get a chance and see why it plugged, but we think that the metal bracket designed to hold it scaled up with rust and crushed it.
