I read alot of threads and the dealer. With a 96 blazer 4x4 do the front or rear torsion bar mounts ever go bad? I see there are alot of discussion about 95 and older with the mounts going bad. I need to replace the lower and upper control arm bushings and in doing so I need to remove the torsion bars. If there is anything the can wear out with the torsion bar I would like to replace it at this time.
What I am looking for is a simple clarification with the what is different between the the older and new torsion bar mounts.

The old ones were sold torsion bar mounts like this.

The new ones are different and are more like hangers.

Thanks LT, does that mean the newer ones do not typically wear out. If I have to remove the torsion bar to do the control arm bushings. should I replace anything on the torsion bar?

not as much as before.
Inspect to see if the torsion bar mounts are worn or rubbing the inner frame.

On my 96 blazer. Is there a way to replace the lower control arm bushings without removing the torsion bar?

We are not talking about those kinds of mounts.
