exhaust install

okay so I just installed my full turbo back exhaust.
Man was it a pain in the ass. Not the removal of the stock exhaust but once I got to the stock o2 sensor housing the problems began. Those bolts must be in the hardest places they can possibily be in to make my job difficult. After about three hours I finally removed all the bolts to the o2 sensor and turned to my new ported o2 sensor for installation. Three hours later and many frustrating throws of the socket and wrench not because of the awkward bolts but because I couldn't get them to go in at all. haha, after that it only took about thirty minutes to get the rest of the exhaust on. So I got the megan downpipe and I decided since I am cheap that I would just go with the tsudo cat back. I was actually suprised because it was rather well made, and it sounds really good actually. Not ricey at all. Nice deep tone. My only problem is I'm sure there is a silencer on the muffler. I would like it to be a little louder. I'm wondering how do I remove this piece of equipment? I saw these two little ass bolts at the end of the exhaust and it looks like part of the inside slides out. I was wondering if that was the silencer. I took a flat head out there and after I removed the bolts I tried to mess with it but I didn't get any place. So before I fucked something up I just decided to turn here. haha

It should just slide out. Was it advertised as a "removable silencer", hopefully it is removable cause it seems like a unnecessary obstruction.

Here. I couldn't find my camera so I had to take a picture with my camera phone. As you can see I have already removed the two bolts, they went were the two holes are. But I'm pretty sure that that piece inside slides out. Atleast I think.

Yeah it should slide out. If you can get something lond enough to reach inside it and get a good grip pull it out. It should sound and perform better with that out.

What a nightmare it was for me to attempt to install my Megan downpipe. GST's fit fine. GSX on the other hand is a whole nother story!
Glad you got it all done!

Ahh yeah the downpipe was cake so was the rest of the exhaust. Had to finangle the muffler piece in a little bit but it was pretty easy. Just that damn o2 sensor. Man I have never been so frustrated in my life.
I got that piece out. It required me taking a metal hanger and folding it over until it was nice and sturdy and then taping it all together with electrical tape and make a little hook. It took me all of my strength to get that thing out. haha. It was in there good. But now the car sounds twice as good, and is much louder. I'm really impressed with the exhaust.
Thanks everyone for their input.

this has asked before but I never got a really straight answer. what modification can you perform to an exhaust system in a state that does emissions, they do visual check and hook it up to a computer to check the output on it I guess in pennslyvania. I was looking at changing my exhaust but I still wanted it to pass emissions.
I realize I will need the cat but would a high flow cat work also? or wont that pass?
I have 4g64 spyder so i'm kinda limited in what i can do. It's the gs.. should have got the gst... but the price was right...

You can pretty much do anything you want except for removing parts and doing anything to trip a CEL. That means no test pipes, missing mufflers, exhaust leaks or cut outs. Also, don't remove/break your rear O2 sensor.
The only do a visual under car inspection to verify that all of the required parts are there and not leaking. Then they hook up to the OBD-II computer and verify that all of the readiness monitors are set. If everything is set and your exhaust is intact and not leaking....off you go with a $40 sticker.
Hopefully you won't have to go to the dealer and pay $150 like most of us do because of the ECU bug  .
Enjoy!

oh I didn't know that was all they did. I thought they hooked up the exhaust to something. SO if I put in a high flow cat and bigger piping it should still pass then? or does it all haev to be stock?

Yes, in pennsylvania that' all they do, I can't comment on other states.
I passed just fine with an upgraded DP & Hi-Flow cat!

What o2 housing did you buy. Im buying the Evo o2 housing from RRE for $140. I've look at just about every website I could think of. All of them want $130 for just the o2 housing. Ebay is the same once shipping gets put in. RRE Evo 02 comes with both gaskets and a flange for a downpipe all for $140. Sold!

I just bought a ported stock o2 housing. I think it cost me about 70 bucks or so. You can tell a big difference. just by comparing the old o2 with the new one.

You should really make a new thread for what to me seems like a different topic than the thread you posted it in. And it's kinda old. ;)
For your Q though, I would say $52 should buy you a decent off brand muffler. From the pic the welds look nice to me. I would want pics of the inside if it were me though. I dont think mufflers are the most complicated things in the world though.
