I have a 95 Grand AM SE with a 6-cyl. engine thats automatic. about 5 days ago i was driving down the road and i hit a bump and for 2 days ever time i hit the gas pedal it would make a clicking sound and would drive real slowly and only when i floored it did it not make a clicking sound but then the engine would make a humming sound when it accelerated. then suddenly it just up and stopped. then 2 days ago i put it in park to go get my friend and when we got back in the car it started doing it all over again. only this time when i start the car it shakes really badly and doesnt start well and it will sometimes die when i start it up to about 2-5 times. and now it will accelerate to about 40 in about 20-25 seconds with barely pushing the gas OR flooring it. and when i hit the brakes to stop the whole car will just shake and sometimes just die. my fiance's dad was an autobody mechanic for about 17 yrs and he says something might be lose in the engine or it might be the valve rods are bent. he told me to take the front end off to see if any of the valves are loose but he isnt for sure. what do you think is the problem?! Im still paying off the car to the guy i bought it from and he wont help me at all.

Check plug wires at both ends. Wire or coil connection may have jarred loose when you hit bump. Sounds like all cylinders are not firing sometimes. The clicking may be a spark jumping to ground.

oh thanx for reminding me. i just did an oil change and replaced all spark plugs and when you said that you gave me the idea that maybe i didnt put the plug wires all the way back on or something...im going to go check right now.

I'd look under the car next to see if there's any obvious damage from the bump - bent lines, exhaust pipes, pans, etc. Then I'd look under the hood and check cables and vacuum lines as carefully as possible. If the engine was running ok before the bump, you may find something loose.

if the bump was big, check the trany mounts and engine mounts. if they are broke or even halfway bad they'll let the engine jump all over.
But I would start at the fuel system since you've replaced the fire end(P&W), and its hard to start you said.Gummed up injectors or a pluged fuel filter will make it run rough too. Hope these leads help ya oout! \,,/
