Questions on a 94' Chevy

Next feb i will be able to buy my fathers 94 chevy pickup.
It has a 5.7L and I was wondering if taking the cat off these trucks will ruin the mileage or something bc i want to put dual exhaust on it but i want to take the cat off so it sounds better. can someone answer me soon thanks.

I would keep the cats (Especialy if you want to pass emissions) and put either a straight through muffler, flowmaster 40 series, or straight pipes after the cat. I've heard of the valves burning up after a while with no cats for back pressure. Flowmaster has a great deep sound at idle and loud on acceleration. They sell dual exhaust kits with their 40 series specifically for our trucks. Not too expensive if i remember right.

actually you will get better gas mileage by taking your cat off! And i think it makes it sound way better with it off too! especially with true dual Super 40s! Dont worry about your valves burning up or whatever you will have plenty of back pressure i have never had a problem like that with three of my trucks which have the cat taken off, besides it gets clogged up anyway and causes you problems. The only thing is, your cab will vibrate sometimes with really low tones......

If it was me, I would do the same thing. Only thing is the emissions you will not pass. However, milage per gallon will be better and Power will be better.

well i am not too concerned with emissions because I live in Michigan and our state aint to bad about emission control. Especially where I live.
