Holy crap. I remember at the July 26th show I attended Maiden did say something along the lines of "we don't do MTV, or reality shows, we play metal". There was a little more in there, clearly aiming a few words at bands and certain people who do those types of shows

Why doesn't Ozzy just kick Maiden off the tour if he hates them so much?

ugh.

youd think it was rap music or something with all the "he said, she said" crap.

and excuse me for being cynical, but im willing to bet it was staged. ozzfest has been sucking wind the past few years, and im sure this was just another hairbrained idea to drum up some free publicity.

im also sure alot of it was embelished by the author.

but really......

who cares?

I'll be glad to plus 1 that rap comment. That publicity stunt comment is also most likely true. Def. a staged act, and who cares seriously. Whether or not this is real...there is always going to be bad blood in the music industry between bands or band members. Who cares.

Bruce did go on a rant similar to what others have said at the 8-2 show in Columbus. I just so happened to get 2 hours of Maiden that night because Ozzy had a "throat problem." Probably the best live show I've seen. I'm going with everyone else on this one and siding with Iron Fucking Maiden too.

I doubt it was staged, why would they do that? Half the crowd left. Sounds like it would be an awesome show to attend though.

Because Bruce Dickinson (lead singer of Maiden if you weren't sure) was talking shit indirectly about Ozzy during every Maiden performance on the tour. He'd say stuff like "You won't see Maiden on MTV or in a reality show." and something about the "corporate assholes taht run Ozzfest." And since it was Maiden's last performance on Ozzfest Sharon probably organized it.

By "staged" do you mean Iron Maiden knew it was going to happen? I agree that Sharon and Big Dave planned the incident before hand, but I don't think Maiden knew about it.

If thats what you meant, then yea I agree.

Ozzfest sucked except for the second stage, In Flames, Iron Fucking Maiden, and Shadows Fall. Yes, go ahead and take it as a direct insult to Ozzy and Zakk Wylde. I mean shit, I love Zakk, but the two of them suck at concerts, Ozzy is too old, and Zakk just plays and plays and plays.

...and Zakk just plays and plays and plays.

And remind me what's wrong with that?

yes, im willing to bet Iron Maiden knew about it. and heres my reasoning:

Part I: Ozzfest has been sucking wind money wise for quite a while, given that its failing to draw younger and younger crowds.

while the "second stage" used to be a launching point for alot of bands, those bands have, in recent years, ended up blowing ass. Sharon has just lost her touch for recruiting decent bands.

part II: You dont join someones tour if you really dont like that someone, and you dont invite someone to join your tour if you really dont like them.

this BS about MTV and such is just a bunch of hype. Ozzy is a professional, as are Sharon and Iron Maiden. Iron Maiden has appeared on MTV and VH1 numerous times. sure, they didnt have an overhyped reality show, but lets face it, bruce isnt half the character ozzy is.

now, as a professional, whose made millions and millions of dollars, and could give one fuck about what anyone says about you, are you going to care if someone takes a stab at you for being on MTV? no. your not. as a ridiculously successful manager (sharon) are you going to let stuff like that (even if it was said in jest) cause you to risk running one of your headliners off your tour? and are you going to let your reaction make you look like a ridiculously stupid child? no.

but if youre looking for free publicity because you need to drum up interest in your washed up tour, youll organize a prank like this. and believe me, sharon osbourne is sly enough to do it. what better way to get fans than to create controversy.

i mean, it works for the rap community on a daily basis.

Not to get off topic (although I am), the rest of the bands were pretty damn good on both stages. In Flames should have been on 2nd stage. They got utterly shafted when I went because they started early, had no crowd, and only played 4 songs. Nothing wrong with second stage that I saw: Arch Enemy, Soilwork, Killswitch Engage, Rob Zombie...

Don't forget Trivium, Black Dahlia Murder and the rest...pretty much every second stage band kicked ass.

And as far as running a headliner off the tour, the San Berandino show was Maiden's last on the tour anyways.

Yeah. I was looking at past lineups and they all seemed pretty good to me!
