internal to external slave cyl switch

I'm looking into buying a 94 yj that has a leaky slave cylinder. As I've come to understand yj's have an internal slave cyl. The repair was quoted @ around $500. Does this seem okay? I'm not equipped to do this kind of extensive repair at home, so it will have to go to a shop. Can the internal unit be converted to an external unit? If so should I have the shop do this if I get this Jeep. Any help is appreciated.

You can't use another slave for your jeep unless you change your bellhousing. You need to get a bellhousing from a 94 or later jeep that was made for an external slave setup. You're going to need all of the internal parts for the new clutch. (throwout bearing, fork, etc.)

I converted my 92 and it's the best way to fix it .
I'm quite sure that the 1994 and up YJs were external but just in case here is the stuff needed to convert internal to external.

For Around $300 you can eliminate a major pain.
Pulling the engine is the best way to change the clutch it only takes about 1/2 hour to get the motor out and you don't have to work on your back
