i can add another notch to my belt!!!
standing start, we both had good launches... no wheel spins just traction!!!...
well i'd have to say that was one of my better runs cos there was no wheel spin and vtec kicked in within the 1st 15m,... i was pretty surprised cos i was infront the whole time and pulled him by two car lengths and getting further!! ahahah
he said he had done his driveline in his SSS and he got it back about a week eariler...
my friend with his MY02 wrx wants to race for fun... i know ill get my ass kicked but i wana see by how much heehe

What sort of SSS?
If it was a Bluebird then there was no race in it. Even an old crappy VTi could take one of those.
If it was an early SR20 powered Sentra (circa 1990) then thats not a bad kill. And it certinaly counts. If it was a later one, then well unforunatly they got heavier and slower, and so the race becomes easier and easier.

it was a nissan pulsar SSS, umm.... it was a aussie model not the jap.
its a 5 door hatch, like the nissan pulsar gti-r but 5 door heheh with out the turbo/bonnet...
certainly looks better (to me anyhow)

Not wanting to burst your bubble or anything, but beating an Aussie spec SSS (or most Aussie 4s for that matter) isn't much to write home about :D
Nailing a rotary, turbo or 8 in a NA Honda maybe, but that's about it ;)

Well the NZ spec 1990ish SSS Sentra had 160hp, same as my car, but the SSS is a lot heavier, and the SR20 DOES NOT like to rev.
In fact compared to the B16a its very very agricultural.
However the next model I believe only had the standard 140hp, same as all the other SR20 cars. = SLOW!

i had about 4 runs with a my01 wrx the other night... very interesting.
he absolutely killed me twice (mad fwd traction).
but i noticed he didn't seem to be pulling.
then he bogged it, so i got about 1/2 a car off the launch. he didn't draw level with me until about the end of third gear... maybe 140km/h or so.
he had a loud-as exhaust system and bov.
i'm basically stock. i was feeling pretty chuffed after that.
the rest of the runs weren't so interesting as we kept getting stuck behind other cars... damn epping road traffic.

the b16a is the DOHC VTEC like in Moppies car right????????????????
if that is the case, the thought of an SR20DE even trying to keep up with one is completely ludicrous

hmmm... second on the SiR is good for 100-102, third runs out to 140 and 4th heads upwards but I usually upshift at that stage. Only run up to 180 once and then the speed limiter cut in and scared me - thought I'd broken something - same the first time I'd bounced off the rev limiter.

You do realise that I dropped to 3rd from 4th, as the SAAB was going less than 80km in a 100 zone, and I already had to drop from 5th, cause it felt like "chug chug".
Only reason I let it go that long, was cause I was overtaking those 3 on the wrong side of the road, down a hill, and I just caught a glimpse of a car coming around the corner.

my record is 5 on the opposite side of the road - did that twice (one of those instances that included 2 semitrailers) this was in the civic :p
doesn't beat Lang's 7 though...in her old GL.

Well If you've still got the Y1 the factory fitted then:
1st is about 60kph. (good to drop into it at 50 to pass really slow cars. :D )
2nd will go to about 105kph
3rd goes to about 150kph
4th to about 185kph
and 5th is 242kph.

The Civic is only the 2nd car Iv ever owned with a working tach, and the only car with an accurate tach in it. So although I use it occasionaly I have learned to drive almost intierly be feel.
I can feel exactly when the engine is at just the right shift point, (Which is just before it hits the limiter ;) ). So I very really thit he limiter, but I am very good at timing my shifts at just the right point. (especialy the 2-3 shift, very important for passing.)
