What does it mean TYPE(FRANCE) on the metal plate with VIN under the hood?
I have Civic 1.5 sedan '93, but I saw it and on the prelude's too

For your model year, if the first figure in the VIN is a "V", I think, it denotes the manufacturing origin as France. Found this:

Peter Sturrock, chief executive of the Federal Chamber of Automotive Industries, says a vehicle's country of origin is no secret. "There is a plate affixed to the firewall that clearly states the country of manufacture. These have been going on cars for decades."

However, fitting the plate is not mandatory and not all build plates state the country of manufacture, plus not all cars have them. Subarus, which are all made in Japan, for example, don't. that TYPE (FRANCE) is not in VIN, only on the same metal plate under the hood where and VIN is, there is also more information - kg. and so on...
