Hey guys and gals. Question: If a PS pump was in the process of failing Would my steering wheel be hard to turn?

yes but a bad rack is a more likely culprit

When my rack went out I still had power steering when turing left but not when turing right. I would much rather have the steering pump to go out then the rack as the pump is a pretty easy fix. That rack is a expensive part!

I was thinking about the rack. But...When I bought the car from the dealer 2 months ago. Everything was in perfect condition. I've been wondering lately exactly what "GM Certified USed" means anymore. It seems more like the dealer just wanted to make sure the car would be "perfect" long enough to get it out of their lot. Screw the customer once he buys the car.I'm mainly wondering about the Pump, because of bearing noise. Either the water pump or PS pump, or both, are making a horrible racket.
Also guys, should PS fluid be greenish/black, and have an opacity similar to used motor oil?

Did you have any warning that the rack was on it's way out? I will say this, during the last day or two, I have begun to feel a "bump" in the wheel whenever I turn the wheel to the left... I know it's not a wheel bearing though.
God, seems like this car just decided to become possessed. Everything is going wrong at once....not nice GM. I don't know. If they don't fix it, then I have wasted 20,000 dollars on this three year old car.
