ok i have a 1990 toyota camry 4 cylinder so i changed the oil and tightened the drain plug the next day i came out and a good amount of oil had leaked out around the drain plug so i wanted to change the plug and gasket after 4 auto part stores no one had the right plug the plug that came up on the computer for my car would not fit the oil pan. so i went to the dealer and the same thing , my old oil pan screw was actually the same size as the transmission pan stated for my car in the computer. so i purchased the transmission plug bolt anyway it fitted perfectly . but the oil is still leakin alot so i think i will have to change the whole oil pan. it must be cracked right below the drain hole. i just wanted to know if anyone else has had that problem i know i dont have any kind of special model engine but i dont know why know one could find the plug for the engine

Did you use a crushable washer between the bolt head and the pan? You need one.

This may sound dumb, but its a suggestion. Is it at all possible that an oversized plug was used last time?

Since you obviously don't have the standard/correct oil pan bolt for your car, why not drain the oil and use another car/bike/feet to take the bolt over to the auto parts store and just match up a washer to it right there.
