Burnout

I'm going to do a burnout (not my first one) and I want it to be spectacular so im gonna get a junkyard rim and tire and burn it until im ridding the rim, and then some. Don't worry, this will be videotaped so you will all get to see it if you want to.
First, im gonna do it in second so that the wheel can spin faster and in a lower rpm that if i did it in first. Is it possible/easy to start it in first and then shift into second while burning out or is it easier to start it in second? the truck is a manual with an open differential so only one tire spins but ill make sure the samera is on the side of the spinning wheel so it doesn't really show. because this isn't my truck and i don't want to ruin the clutch, im gonna soak the tire in wd-40 and then spray some on the ground where im gonna be burning out so that it's easier on the clutch. does anyone have any suggestions to make this easier or to make it cool like making the smoke a certain color or anything?

If the truck has enough power, then sure you can switch gears. Do remember, the faster that tire is spinning, the harder your spider gears will be working to compensate since you have an open diff. Don't be suprised if you hear a loud "ping"

what would the ping mean?

or maybe.... soak both tires.... then maybe you could get both spinning....and do donuts....at least i could do that in my old cutlass without any help from lube..

but did your cutlas have a limited slip diff? and why would it ping, what would happen that would kill the rear end? and based on this info im guessing i shouldn't have one wheel spinning at like 40kph (25mph) and the other not spinning at all, would that be a good conclusion?

Peg leg burnouts dont really impress anyone - and the people it does impress arnt worth impressing. If you do it bleach will work better than wd40, and maby you wont break too much stuff.

no LSD... it just so happend every now and then it would spin both tires.... it usually happend when i wasnt trying to do anything... damn engine mods...

someone i work with has a cutlass, doesn't have a big engine (by muscle car standards) i think a 305 or something but i hear it can lay some good rybber when it's warmed up. he plans on putting a 454 in it and already installed a header back exhaust that will fit on both the 454 and the current engine.

the factory Olds small block was a 307 (305 was Chevy) and the 455 big block is what came in the Old Oldsmobiles... although ive never heard of headers that fit both big and small blocks...

he didn't have headers, he had the whole exhaust behind the headers made to fit both
