Oil in air cleaner

My 90 B2200 with carb has a major oil puddle in the air cleaner. There is so much oil it has saturatd the air filter and runs out of the bottom of the air cleaner. It is not as bad around town but after highway driving oil is all over the engine compartment. The PCV valve is new and has suction. Is all this oil coming from the breather vent?? No smoke on startup or while driving ( that I have noticed). Any ideas??

Thanks

sounds to me like you might be getting "blow-by". Crankcase might be pressurized by it pushing the oil into the breather.

It is a combination of poor design, and old engine, and running long distances at close to wide open throttle which decreases vacuum to the pcv valve.

I just wrote a rather long post on this somewhere, let me see if I can find the link...

Lol, ok it seems to be that explaination was to your post to begin with, lol.

Also has some good info on gear ratios, and recommended oil and stuff...
