Hi all - another newbie here; was browsing the archive for advice on the (popular, it seems) ABS/TRAC/Service Vehicle dash light combo. Lots of helpful info!
Mine is a 2001 GL2 coupe, 3.4L. Had a few of the standard problems: apart from what I now think is a bad speed sensor, had the hazard light switch replaced (warranty) at about 30K miles. It definitely eats rotors; I'm now on aftermarket front rotors after 2 sets of GM rotors in 50k miles - got my first two replaced under the 5-year 60k warranty. Had a problem with the security system, evidently a bad seal let water in the unit during heavy rains, also replaced under warranty - did have to pay to have the car towed. Also having slight leakage from the intake manifold gasket, although not severe yet. Had wheel bearings done on the front at 80k; my local dealer got far too much of my money for that job (sigh). Now at 95k miles, so no more warranty (sob), but I'm learning how to do some of the work myself ;-)
I like the car overall - handles very well on the mountain roads around here, great stereo, fairly comfy, just wish it had a little more power...
Anyway, hello! And I hope to chat with some of you soon.
Cheers,
Dave

Welcome Dave. We all have our Alero stories and problems. Thanks for sharing yours.
On the 3400 there are plenty of engine mods out there to pep it up.
