Multi-Task Switch or Blinker Relay?

I own a 2000 Pontiac Grand Am SE. The turn signals work perfectly. However, after using them, or occassionaly driving down the highway, I hear the same "clicking" noise as if they were being used. I have been told by a few people that this is the cause of the Multi-Task Switch, and I have also been told that it is the blinker-relay. Which is it, and how do I replace it? Is it costly? Thanks.

It is definately the mulfi-function switch. It is a recall issue, and a pontiac dealer should be able to install the new switch for you free. Welcome to the forum.

:frown:I have the same problem. Been to dealer, there is no recall.
I was told that it is the multi task swith, in the steering column. Repair cast I was told was $300.00 at the dealer. The noise isn't that bad.

I have a similar problem with my '94 Grand Am.

It can happen while driving or more often after first starting, in which case it eventually stops.

The problems that I get are that the relay will constantly click, interior lights will go on and off, door locks will lock and unlock, brake light and ABS lights come on on the dash and the radio display is messed up and radio wont come on, door chimes continually when key in and engine off.

Is this the same problem, the multitask switch.

One thing I have noticed is that it seems to be worse if the weather is wet.
I aslo have a leaking heater core, could this be getting into something and causing the problem ?
