subwoofer mounting

i was reading stats from some website, that i lost unfortunetly, talking about best box placement for the highest cabin spl. from what i remember it said to mount the box facing the back of the car, and very close to the trunk lid. something having to do with less soundwave cancellation. is that a bunch of bs? from experience what is the best place to mount, and in what direction. i have a sealed box by the way.

i was curious, if i mounted the box facing foward and pushed up next to the back seat, could it cause any malfunction or disturbance with the amps due to higher virbations? i have them mounted to the back of the seat. so the speakers would be bumping almost on the amps.

from what i heard, facing subs to the rear would make it sound better. as for SPL, i'm not sure if it applies. it might. you won't know until you try.

as for facing the front, as long as the subs aren't touch when excursion hits, you'll be fine. i don't think anythiny would happen to the amp if it vibrates too much. they are made to take a beating.

Try all the combinations, but with my experience in my 93 which is basically the same, It sounds best facing the back or facing the front with the seat down. With the seat up, the seat will muffle the sound more.

Its really cool to have the seat down and watch your subs move in your mirror :D

it's better and louder if you face them towards the tail lights. I'm starting to build my box and I'm going to have them facing the front of the car right behind the back seats so that you see them when you lay the back seat down, mostly for show, but still sounds good. :)
