hello, I have a '90 T-Bird and 3 out of the 5 wires in the trunk lid were cut, they are for the reverse lights, license plate light, trunk light, etc. I re-wired them back up colour to matching colour and when I put the car in reverse, the reverse lights come on, but all the parking lights, tail lights and dash lights come on as well. Somebody had cut the same 5 wires in the trunk and then re-wired them and the cut them again, so I reconnected them. Anyways, any ideas why and where to look as to why the park lights, tail lights etc come on when I put the car into reverse? All the park lights, dash lights and tail lights work properly when I physically turn them on via headlight switch....any ideas and ghelp would be very appreciated, thank you.

Wherever they are cut, make sure there is insulation (tape) on each connection so that the wires aren't shorting together.

Each wire is insulated with electrical tape and the wires are in the trunk, they run along side the passenger side trunk lid hinge.

Go to your library and ask for the Mitchell electrical manual for your year Bird to get a schematic for it. My next guess would be since someone cut the wires in the trunk there are probably more wires cut and spliced in the dash or console.
