2000 FOCUS SE, 2.0L, DOHC ZETEC ENGINE - Has anyone ever replaced the ISCV on the DOHC engine. My Haynes manual is very ambiguous about the location and removal procedure for the ISCV. The manual says to remove the alternator OR the intake manifold. I cannot find the valve on the engine. I would like to see the valve so I can determine what must be removed in order to access the valve. Any help will be greatly appreciated. THANKS!

I will answer my own question just in case anyone else needs to do this job. The ISCV can be accessed from under the car. It is located on the intake manifild just above the starter. The air intake tube can be removed to make the job easier. I used a deep well 8mm 1/4" drive socket to remove the upper screw and a regular 8mm socket to remove the lower screw. Then, usimg the wiring harness, carefully pull the ISCV through the maze to the top of the engine where the air intake tube was removed. When replacing the valve I had to use an inspection mirror to line up the screw holes. It took several attempts to line it up because there is not enough room to work around the inspection mirror. I had to use the mirror to see how much I had to move the valve to line it up. Then, remove the mirror, move the ISCV and then use the mirror to see what other positional adjustments were necessary. It took five attempts to get the lower screw lined up and started. I then used the mirror to line up the top screw hole and taped the screw into the deep well socket to get it started. Also, the ISCV has a black seal that is the same color as the intake manifold, and very easy to overlook. Be sure that you don't lose the gasket.

Thanks for posting the info. Just did the off/on on an '01 DOHC. Had it off pretty quickly. Back on was tougher but there were two of us. One could support the valve from above while the other fished the screws from below. Not too bad. For me, the top screw worked out best right handed, and the lower left handed.
