Wheel bearing replacement

I'm having an issue with my 1990 K1500 4x4. The front right wheel is making a grinding sound when I drive, it becomes more pronounced when turning to the right. The brakes look fine, I replaced the upper control arm bushings since they were rather worn, the issue still exists. I was looking into having someone re-pack the bearings this week while I'm at work, I was surprised to be quoted $189 for parts. Supposedly the bearings are sealed or the like on this year truck, and you end up replacing the whoel thing rather than re-packing it? Anyone have any info on this, and what it takes to do it yourself?

The're right. I changed it on my 92 4x4. Its a hub and bearing assembly and held on by three bolts that connect it to the steering knuckle. Remove those three bolts and the drive axle nut, a little muscle from a handy sledge, and it pops right off. Clean off the axle splines and coat them with bearing grease, and slide the new assembly back on. Done. good luck.
