they just called me tellin me theyll send the info by mail, luckily theres a campus like 25 minutes away from my house, the guy told me i can go take a tour and he'll explain everything to me.
they have like 5 branches u can go to after u finish the basic mekanik training. either go with ford, bmw, volkswagen, i think jaguar, and even a NASCAR thing. oh, also a collision repair branch.

Thats UTI your talkin about. I went to NTI a branch of UTI here in WNC. I went to nascar tech because it was close to home. But I will tell you this much. It is a waiste of time, brain space, and $$$!! Cost me about $30k to attend and they tried to get another $1300 out of me when I was about 8 months in. I left that day and never went back. Still paying off the stupid loan. I wish I could sue them for false advertisement. They promised me this and told me that and none of it was true. Their recruiters where just lookin out for their own pockets and ripping everyone else off by doing so. They told me that in this I think it was a 16month program starting in basic training and then going on to take about 3 Ford specific classes that they offered on sight, then going to a couple nascar classes would land me a job making more than $50k a year starting out and I would be ASE certified the moment I graduated. While I was taking the heating and cooling (AC) class which I aced by the way and cant remember shit from it to this day, they wanted me to give them another $15 to take a test to be AllData certified...after they got $30k from me. Also they didnt have dorms, I had to rent an apartment for $745/mo that was crawling with bugs, hot water went in and out, and the neighbors always complained about me leaving in my loud truck at 5am every morning to be at school on time. I would strongly advise you to look into some other options. You will get nowhere by attending UTI. The cops around here also where strict on the students. Yes we where mostly young make drivers in semi fast/very loud vehicles. But the fast that we went to a "speed school" made it that much worse on us. The best place I can advise for you to go is Whyo tech. Other than that I would suggest looking into a local community college that offers automitive classes. Just do yourself a favor and stay away from UTI. If I had talked to someone who went to UTI before I gave them my $$ I never would have gone. When I first started I thought it was awsome, I was doing about the best in the class and got along great with most of the teachers, all that fun stuff lasted about 6 weeks.

Whatever you do, don't go to UTI. A friend of mine, who I work with went there and regrets every bit of it. Waste of money. Local tech schools are the best way to go.

I have a buddy who went to UTI, weird he must of just had good luck there cause I have heard alot of horror stories, he is now working at BMW and making Buccu bucks. I guess it is just the luck of the draw.

Well thats part of their big sales pitch. The whole we can get you a job on a pit crew or give use your money we will tell you we can get you a job with a race team. But...UTI pays nascar to use their name. UTI is in no way affiliated with nascar, they just use it for a sales pitch. Also these days with the polotics in racing you pretty much have to be in the family or know someone who has some pull to get a job doing almost anything for nascar. Aside from selling T-shirts that is.

i will be attending uti in sept now im haveing second thoughts. is it really that bad? and on else had trouble. i will tell you this much i had to get an appartment with one of my friends and guess how much its gonna cost me. i have to pay 940 bucks before i can move in to them which will cover the first two months of rent. after theat its 400 from me plus i have to pay electracal, and cable. the school cost 21000 to get in and after i leave i cannot come back because its 10 hours away. my parents are not paying yet but im really glad that i saw this. so its just bull sh$$? im gonna look up wyo tech. is wyo tech a better alternative?

damn..... well now that i know this, i know im still going to take the tour, but ill try and sniff the bullshits they try to throw at me HAHA! hey 351wstang, what is it that they promissed u that wasnt true?

The whole point, in my opinion, is thats its just not worth $20,000 tuition for the education that you get. Plus books, tools and apartment fees, your looking at 25-30K that you have to bay back right after school. I went to WCTC in Pewaukee, Wisconsin. It was a pretty well rated school state wide and I only payed like $4K tuition for a 3 semester course. I was happy with it.

they came to my school last year and besicaly said the same thing about the nascar and all that bullshit and made us watch like 3 hours of viedos and they gave us all these packets and books and shit about UTI. the recruiter was a little asshole to. does anybody know if u can get in one of those small community colleges with a GED?

Yes you can. You would also be better off there. Generally there is more 1 on 1 time with teachers so you get first hand experience.

hey 351wstang, what is it that they promissed u that wasnt true?

Well I'll list a few things right off the top of my head, lets see:
(1) They told me I would get ASE certified if I completed their coarses, found out the long and hard way that was a lie.
(2) They told me that we would get hands on experience split 50/50 with book work. WRONG! Ya we went out into the shop...some. When we did get to go into the shop it was on a limited time frame. I'll give you an example of what happened to me out in the shop. Ok, I know my way around under the hood needless to say. So we are all bunched up around a couple cars with the hood up and the teacher turns around and sees my hands in the engine compartment and goes all to hell. He went on talking about writting me up and shit, wouldnt even give me the chance to explain to him that I'll I was doing was checking the coil wire connection & rotor button because this particular car wouldnt start.
(3) They said they had catering services delivering food to the school....they had overpriced vending machines. After $30k you would think that they could feed you something to eat.
(4) They advertised this close relation ship with nascar and talked about how going to this school was opening a door for a pit crew job and all this other crap. They even said they had a pit crew training facility on campus that would be finished by the time I got there. Well the building they where reffering to was not only on someone elses property, they also didnt have shit to do with this building and the recruiters where just useing it to add on to their stockpile of bullshit.
(5) They lied and lied and got more and more strict the longer I was there. You would think that you deserve to be treated as a person by attending something with a name such as nascar. Not to mention how fat you where making their pockets. They where all snobs, disrespectful, and full of shit. But when you take the tour and all the other stuff they are as nice as they can possibly be. They even fired one of their better teachers for being seen in the same bar as some students, mind you everyone was age. Once they get your money they could care less about you. I know if you go to nti there is like a 3 month trial period or something where if you dont like it you can turn around and leave. I'm sure the other uti campases are the same way. But let me tell you, everything changes after those few months.

Nadc (nashville auto diesel college) is a pretty decent school. as long as you dont mind gettin mostly class time...great instructors, cafe' food sucks, 20,000 tuition not including dorm. they also have a high performance class but thats extra.

i had the chance, in high school, to take a tour of three places, UTI, lincoln tech, and triton community college to see their auto programs. It was from an autos class and was all in one day. I was actually thinking about going to one at that point. this all changed when we went to lincoln tech and students kept mouthing 'go to uti' to us behind the tourguides back. The same happened at uti for lincoln tech. there were no classes going on at the college when we got there, but it didn't look like it had the 'flash' of uti or lincoln tech. it seemed like nobody wanted to be where they were (at least at uti and lincoln, i don't know what the students at triton think). The college had almost everything uti had, there just wasn't a flashy tourguide and people revin engines whenever you walked through a shop. the point, if you aren't gonna be happy with where you're going cuz all of your options suck, might as well pay less for it, stick it through, get your certification, then actually go learn what you're doing.
