On my 91 G20 last Saturday I was driving up the Flordia turnpike in a Thunderstorm\ Tornado in the wiper wents dead ... very bad timing....

I could not see Jack Squat !!!

I can hear what sounds like the motor turning but the wipers don't move.. anyone have any suggestion.. comments.. fixes ??

The links to the arms might be busted. At least that is what it sounds like.

haven't looked closely at the wipers, but could be that the nut holding the blades is just loose.

This was the FIRST thing that went wrong on my car. Your problem lies in the connection of the right link and either the motor, or the passenger-wiper arm. Turned out mine had been kept in place with rubber bands!!! Now I did not get any new parts - I used some wire to keep it all together (don't laugh, I'm still proud of this job - it still works!), but I really would not recommend it unless you're desperate (I was). You can drill the end of the link and the arm(s) - lotsa work. Or just go to the dealer and get two new links (I would think that the plastic part of the link gets most wear from metal to plastic contact). You might need to buy new arms (1, 2, or 3) as well, but it's not too likely.

Sorry for a lot of (useless) brackets, it's just my style of writing.

Hope this helps...

Thanks for the help. It just seemed strange that they both stopped working at the same time. I will go to the stealership and order the rubber parts ( hapen to know the part # ? ) because I am not up for drilling anything. Most of the time it only rains here for 15 minutes at a time .... Thanks again ...

Nah dude, I got a new wiper "transmission" or linkage from the Nissan junkyard for $10. Most of the install time went to taking off that plastic piece of shit. It's just a fuckin' bar, don't buy from stealership unless absolutely neccessary.

The linkages are subject to extensive wear over the years, so I would strongly advise not getting them at the junkyard, I'm afraid this is something you need to get at the dealership...

And poppy_morenito, you need the whole linkages, not just rubber (?) parts.

Is this easy to install myself. If I can get them from the junk yard for 10 bucks I wiould do this or ones from the STEALERSHIP too.

I just want to get it done quickly before getting caught in the rain again ....

Well, I guess you could look at it that way. On the other hand, it's almost a ball bearing set up packed with lube. Also, it's a part thats not supposed to fail. So I don't see the harm in going to the junkyard just as long as the inserts on the bar are still lubed, you shouldn't have a problem. It's probably easier for me to get the parts because my work is located close to an all Nissan and Infiniti junkyard. Install is very easy and straight forward, all mechanical, no electrical. Like I said, it's just a long bar with two pivot bars on it. Go to the dealership and see how much they want to rape you for it. It's most likely gonna be a special order thing (2 days).
