Hi guys. I am new to the forum and I have a question. I have a 91 Honda Civic 1.5 with a 4 speed tranny. I am about to swap in a 1.6 ZC with the 5 speed ZC tranny. I have seen alot of engine swap info and it is ranked the easiest for a do it your selfer. My friends and family says that I am opening a can of worms from going to a different engine and especially converting from a 4 speed to a 5 speed. How hard do you think this will be.

supposedly not too hard but your best bet is to talk to Travis hes in the midst of doing this one but I would stick with the Si tranny so you dont have to do the axle thing.

Okay from what i hear is that the std and dx models have different hubs than the Si. So if you have a std or dx then no matter what tranny you get (zc or Si) you'll have to change axels. I have a std civic so i bought an Si tranny and Hybrid axels ( tranny side Si, hubd side DX) if you buy the ZC tranny you have to get 89 teg axels (think 89).

Yeh you also gotta get a fuel injector resistor box. You can 90-91 integra axles also. You need to change your ecu unless it came with one? If not then u need to get ecu from a 88-89 integra.

The DX and STD are not the same.. If you have the 1.5L and a 4-speed, you have the STD and need axles and hubs/knuckles anyway if you do a ZC swap. The ZC tranny has a funky final drive which I think makes it rev extremely high. (not good for any type if highway driving), so most people use an Si tranny.
The cheapest "correct" way to do it given your current setup:
ZC engine
Tranny - Any tranny other than a STD or HF (Si is best choice, read Hybrid page info from link below)
Hubs - From any Civic other than a STD or an HF
ECU - 89 Integra 5-spped ECu can be found on e-bay for $100 -but the ZC ECU is still the correct one because I hear the Integra ECU makes the motor run rich. The US Si ECU works but is made for a SOHC motor and will not allow the ZC to run anywhere near its potential
Injector resistor box from any Honda ($25 in the junkyard and often found on e-bay)
wiring instructions and other general info - From a place like the Honda Hybrid page (http://hybrid2.honda-perf.org/tech/4gtech.html#ZC) or HASport (http://www.hasport.com/information.htm)
