hi ive been all over the internet trying to figer out why the heck my car is doing this :banghead: its a 95 eagle talon esi what it dose is i can be driveing down a road and every bump i hit the card shifts to the passanger side and its killing my tires it also dose it on any other textuar of tar patched pavement or gravle and it dose it really bad when raining i cant even drive over 40 mph cause its fish taleing so much and i belive this is a common problem for the high mile cars i have 2 talons both has over 150,000 miles on them and they both do it the first talon i bought new shocks on it and still did it :swear: it did it till its death it got rear ended and knocked into a truck and it was totaled and i also drove a 95 eclipse RS at a car lot and it had the same problem so i was wondering if any one here could tell me what it was or may had this problem happen to them and if so how did u fix it?
heres what i did so far
new shocks
a used kunckle arm both sides
tried other tires
i changed the rims from 14" to 15" and it only made it worse
what i havent tried replaceing yet
trailing arm
lower arm
toe control arm
shock absorber
upper control arm

So, you mean while driving your cars starts going to the left ? What do you mean when its raining you car fishtails a lot, on a straight or when you make a turn it fishtails ? I drive a 96 Eclipse and I am absolutly sure my car does none of these. And on rain when I drive around 100mph it doesnt fishtail, if I try to turn with that speed :) well then it might.

as long as the road is smoth it drives fine but as soon as i hit a ruff spot in the road the car fishtales a little to the passanger side and also feels like it dosent have shocks and when it rains it just dose it worse and the fishtailing is eating my tires up with in 2 weeks i buy used tries so it wont cost as much i also have another 95 talon auto only 79k miles on it and it drives fine i look at the rear and every thing looks the same as mile 150,000 mile car thats given me such hell i also have a wrecked talon that did the same thing it staterd around 140,000 when i noticed it and i put new shoxs on it and still did the same :( and only way it would do it when makeing a turn is i hit a ruff spot and also when it dose it every thing in my trunk kinda bounes like my hydro jack it clangs loud.

wow your car is messed up really bad. I would check if it was in an accident and try do alignment maybe. Take it to a shop for free inspection and let them tell you what THEY think is the problem. Then maybe it would be a little clear. Come back and post results and I can bet you some one might help you.

i dont think it was from a wreck cause i had 2 cars do it plus one i test drove did it and the odds of 3 cars in 3 wrecks doing the same thing would be 1 in a million and the problem with getting it checked out people here charge money to do it and they would have to dirve the car cause i had it looked at on the rack and they couldnt find nothing worng on the rear end then and they charged me like $40 to tell me i had a bad wheel barring on the front in which i replaced.

LOL You guys give people so much shit over that.
Is the car lowered?
Have you checked all your bushings over "GOOD"
The upper control arm bushing when broken will make your car swing out like that. Because the arm wobbles on the bolt. Sometimes you have to look at the back of the bushing.

Don't waist money on the Whole control arm.. Get the prothane bushings and replace all of your bushings for under 250.00. I think for the control arm at dealer it's 100.00 something FOR 1

Yeah, that's an automatic NO for helping you now anyways. I think I can help out quite a bit with everyone here. I try hard to do it. If you're going to make comments like that, don't even bother posting, because the more you refuse to punctuate, the less people are going to want to help you.

lol only help u do is by leaveing rude and useless comments and about Bringing your car to mitsubishi period thats a hell na cause its a talon and they would charge $60 a hour to figer out what it is and spend at least 1 hour and 40 mins goofing off and 20 mins finding out the problem
and i can get both sides on the whole rear end for $200 at a salavge yard which is less then $250 so i think i will do that cause the odds of a 99 eclipse doing this should be rare but knowing my luck i will probly get stuck with a crapy one just like mine
the pics are great but the busings along $250 thats extremely high for just rubber and a metal peice and wonder ho u get the old bushings out
i look at my bushings there a little crack but has not toor apart or nothing but what i will get when i by from a salavge yard is 2 trailing arms 2 lower arms 2 toe controls 2 upper control arms all for 200 maybe less cause last time when i got the quote that include the knuckles which i alrdy bought for $100

Congratulations, you could have a lowered car if you wanted one because you wouldn't have no bumper left. So you would actually have a bumper.

Ok i think i just figured out your problem. You said "i'll just go to the junk yard" That's why your car is a piece of SHIT! You need to get some quality parts THAT DONT BREAK or THAT ARE ALREADY 10 YEARS OLD. IMO you need to stop being stingy with your cash and put some into that poor junk yard queen you have there!
Go to the junk yard if you want. But dont be mad when the bushings break on you because they have not moved in years and are all crusty.
OHH try to figure out how to put bushings in... That site you where at tells you HOW...ALONG with the instructions included with them.
GOOD LUCK!

umm and your point is?????
why and how would a tubro solve this problem it would probly ending up killing self my cause of the speed and the pos failing apart and btw i bought the knuckles from the junk yard and they work fine paid less for both them and 1 new set of bushings so maybe is there shit wasnt so high i could afford to by new parts :lol2: and also the car was already like this when i bought it but any way the probelm is still there and its not the bushings and it seems to get worse when theres less tread is on the tire.

Hey guys. Im new to this site but am a member over at dsmtalk.com and my dad came across this post. He has this exact same problem, we replaced the knuckle with a straight on but still has some effects. We were just curious to see if the problem was ever resolved. Thanks!

Please try to watch the thread dates. Usually if they're over a couple months old, we suggest starting a new one, because usually the OP doesn't stick around long enough to post the outcomes. With that being said, welcome to AF.
Being as you already posted here though, I'll just continue this thread.
When you say it does the same thing, does it pull to the side from the front of the car, or from the back? I had a bad bushing on a lower control arm on my RS awhile back and it would kind of "wobble" all over the road.

Sorry, i figured it would be easier to just reopen a thread sicne there was already a lot of info here. My dad said it is the same problem that the guy described. Newly balanced tires, new ball joints. And yes, the sliding motion comes from the rear and its only right after it hits a bump.

I would get under the car and inspect the lower control arms and their bushings. Grab them and yank on them to see if you can get them to move.

I had the same problem, but it was in the front and i had discovered that the lower control arm was bent, also the camber was way off. If i were you I would take it and see if you can get and alignment, and they will look for loose or bent parts. My college teacher says that cars don't steer in the front it's the rear that does the steering, if you understand that at all.

Professor? College Professor? camber wouldn't have an effect like this. all camber does is lean the tires to run on the inside (or outside if you wanted...) running with 3* negative camber (inside sidewall) will actually IMPROVE drive ability, cornering, as well as wheel response... this is that "driving on rails" feeling. but its going to eat tires for breakfast. (though i have seen unusually long tire life from guys running aggressive camber lately.)
as for the problem you guys are having with the rear of the car swinging out on you, it has been said at least 5 times prior to this post. has ANYONE experiencing this problem even looked at the bushings holding the rear suspension together? my money is on finding the problem here. :2cents:
