Stopping while driving

While driving my Dodge Stratus 95 2.0LE (4cyl, 150'000km) on more than ca 2500rpm for a little while the car starts to "jump" (also right after i fuel the car, it gets worse). If I use high rpm I can controll it for some more meters, but it will finally stop when I let the rpm's down.
After 15-30 seconds it starts perfectly, but the shorter amount of time I wait before starting it again, the smaller distance it will travel before happening again.

I've had this preoblem for a some time, I always thought the problem was water in the gas, so I emptied the tank, but the problem has not disappeared. My mechanic thought the same thing, and had no other suggestions. I'd really appreciate some replys as the problem is not going away, and I'm afraid to go on longer trips, as that is when the problem usually occurs, (when the engine is hot - although never overheating)

how old is your battery? You could have a weak battery or you also may have a badly clogged fuel filter. Last option may be a weak fuel pump.

Thanks!, I'll look into it, although, if it's the battery shouldn't the electricity disappear? I'll check it anyway. Checked with the Chrysler-(as the car is called here in Europe) mechanics a while ago, they told me that they've never encountered problems with the fuel filter on a Stratus, and that it has to be imported. Comes to about 100$, while for a normal car its 5$.
