Trailer Hitch for Bike rack

I have a 2004 Solara convertible and want to put a trailer hitch. Apparently you are not supposed to tow anything with it but I'd like to
to use it for a bike rack. It appears the only one I can get has to be welded. Would this damage the integedy of the unibody construction
