Completed: Tic Tac Porsche 962C 1/24

Here's my latest project finally completed. It's actually my first completed thread so far this year, because I had to put off model building for a long time when I had exams. It feels nice to get one finished though :biggrin: . The model represents the Dauer Racing 'Tic Tac' Porsche 962C as raced in the 1990 Silverstone WSPC (Link To Photo Of Real Car) (http://www.racingsportscars.com/photo/1990/Silverstone-1990-05-20-033.jpg) My version is not an exact replica of this car, as the livery changed slightly in each race, and sometimes wheel spats were not used, but this is the race which my car is closest to.

As for the model, the base kit was the Tamiya Porsche 962C (the Dunlop Shell version, as it had the correct wheels) which is a good quality curbside kit. However the windows and headlights are molded in, which is hard to work around :frown: . The decals are 1/24 scale from Scale Designs. The fit is perfect and all seem to be going well until microset dulled the gold colour on some of the gold decals, but it still looks OK. The body was painted in TS-26 and given the usual wax and compound treatment.

Overall this kit was fun to build and with this decal scheme was challenging but paid off in the end. Now onto the next project! :thumbsup:

Great stuff, I love it! :) At least you chose a predominantly white livery so the molded in glassware isn't such a big problem.

Sweet! I remember when I first saw the B&W Alps printer test run of that decal set. It looks a lot better in color!..LOL
