far as i know , only fits on 98+ , and 50 state smog legal , but obviously the only place you need to worry about that is cali (unfortunatly like myself) , and the only company i know of to make somg legal headers for the 4.3 , im sure other companys do , just dont know which ones

the 4.3l has awsome flowing manifolds, you dont need headers for proformence, and youll only gain 1 to 3 horses top, what you need for proformence is a high flow catalatic converter and stright through muffler... now as to true duel, you wont gain anything, you will do more damage then good by putting a true duel exhaust system on a 4.3l, get a nice high flow single in duel out if you want the look of duel, but true is not needed or reccomended on our sixes

ok, why? im used to headers boosting the crap out of your HP then again my last vehicle was a 6.0 V8... how will a dual damage my power? i know if i have the right intake system on coupled with performance dual that on most vehicles will give you a nice kick, this may be a V-6 but is has the displacement of alot of V-8s. this thing just went out of warranty so im just starting to look into modifications, im looking for as much HP as i can get just with intake, exaust, headers or equivelant, computer, and maybe, i mean maybe an intercooler... advice?

it displaces as much as a sbc 350 with two of the cylenders cut of... 4.3/6=.7166... .7166x8=5.7... but by putting a true duel exhaust on to the 4.3 there isnt enough back pressure to run proporly, you have to shrink the pipe, and about the headders you are correct, on most vehicals the work excellent in your vehicals breathing process, but the 4.3l is not a 6l lol, and the manifolds on these things flow suprisingly well, you will gain like i said 3 horses tops out of a set of headders for the 4.3l and they are extreamly pricy for that kinda $$$

ok well what can i do to get a boost, this thing already screeches the tires when i want, but i want smoke if i floor it at a light, im not looking for all out speed just HP and torque, its a truck not a race car, dont get me wrong, when some lil rice burner pulls up to me most of the time im alreadt down the street by the time he hits 40 lol. anyways, how can i get the max i can get out of this in a non cheapo way but still not too complicated?

underdrive pullys, camshaft, port n polish, flat top pistons, high flow exhaust from cat back, cold air intake, power programmer, corvette servo in the transmission, shift kit... BLOWER :bananasmi lots of ways, same as any moter, just, you cannot go with duel exhaust, and headers are practicly useless on the stock setup, do some power gaining first, then headers become worth it, or, be like me, build a 350 powerhouse, and put a high flow, QUIET exhaust on it, theyll never know untill my foot hits the floor and the tires scream!

If you're looking for hard launches off the line, why would you want to smoke the tires? Another easy modification is to change the gear in the rear end for one with a higher ratio and posi for additional traction. My 4.3L Sonoma ZQ8 with posi will barely spin the tires (Eagle GT P235/55/16) on dry pavement, it just hooks up and goes. After having several cars that would smoke the tires, little or no wheel-spin is a good thing.
If you want smoke, just use the brake and gas pedal at the same time. Or go with a very high ratio, like 4.10:1 - no posi, and a slightly narrower tire than stock.

im looking to keep my engine, i thought about putting a V8 in even had one lined up but decided against it, this a ZR2, its not meant for speed but it still has it... i just want more more hp and torque and a nice clean throaty rumble, i want it to maximize what i have not alter it completely. im trying to keep off roading in mind but try to jet some more gas milage while increasing power
