Hey guys,
I dug up another one of my old projects and started it up again. Its a kitbashed Revell funny car and a Fujimi Civic hatchback kit. Its still in it "UGLY" stages. I started this over 2 years ago because I thought the whole front wheel drive drag racing scene looked odd with a fat drag slick popping out of the front end. Well, this won't be Honda powered, but a maybe a blown V8 or a large single turbo V8. Got bored of the Integra in the background-Its gonna be on hold for a few days.

If it is a true Honda drag car it should have the fat wheels on the front!;)

Guiddy,
I just created a fictional piece that I thought would make more sense. Adam Saruwatari's Honda sponsered drag NSX is V6 powered and rear wheel drive. You seem offended that it doesn't have the "normal Honda" driveline setup.

Flyonthewall,
I'm not too sure yet. I might covert the V8 to a V6, but its going to be just in front of the driver as the gearbox runs between his legs in the original frame configuration. So you guys might see a large hump or opening on top of the hood. You know what, I might even use the mugen NSX engines from the Tamiya JGTC kits and turbo charge them.
Don't know yet. Just trying to get the suspension framework up front done first. The frame has already been shortened.

Looks good. I'm tubbing a Rambler and i have the same rear rims, but am having a hard time finding the matching front. Where are yours from?
Oh, blown hemi up front would look fine :D

you could take the plymouth prowler engine its already a v6

Just a thought! Why not take some inspiration from the Meguiar drag focus which i think looks pretty cool with that huge wing. The civic has a similar shape so maybe u could do something like it??? That is if u've not already thought of it???

Thanks for the suggestions guys. Now to answer some questions.

Mikesrambler: The kit that I used was the Revell MAD Firebird Funny car and the wheels are from that kit. I don't know if its still available, but you can use another funny car kit from revell from around the same year manufactured. This particular kit was made in 1998.

Patate: The plymouth is a V6, but I was looking for something Turbocharged like the Buick Grand National kit. I would like the throttle body and manifold to loook like it was design for a turbo setup instead of having a large cover or baffle to reduce intake noise ( I think the prowler had that -correct me if I'm wrong ) Thanks for the suggestion though.

Flyonthewall: That wing is huge! I can't decide if I want the whole body as a cowl that tilts up like the funny car dragsters or if I want the Unibody with a tubular frame welded in place with just a removable front cowl and opening doors. If I do make the latter version, I will take your suggeston into consideration. After all it is gonna be rear drive and I can benefit from all the rear downforce with that huge wing- if it was a real car!
Thanks for the suggestions agian,
Walter

LOL! No, just winding you up!

Seriously though, a Hemi in a Civic? It just ain't right! But imagine a Turbo charged Honda block from the Revell ITR kit, with all the plumbing, and fat front rims like the Focus! It is where drag racing is at now!
The NSX is rear engined and drives the rear wheels so the layout can copy that! Totally different from the Civic.
Don't get me wrong, love the idea you have! Just helping make it a little different, that's all!

OK, OK Guiddy. I'll try to appease everyone by making a turbo Honda V8 with VTEC by using the existing block, but casting two resin heads and valve covers from the Revell Integra kit and using that on top to make a V8 engine configuration (4 CAMSHAFTS, 32 VALVES+VTEC, etc...) - Hows that for a fictional piece?? But, now there is a but-I'll still make it rear wheel drive. It'll be turbocharged with one very, very large turbo and a custom made manifold and throttle system. Happy now? -No more Hemi-blown motor in Honda only now its gonna be a Turbocharged High-winding V8 VTEC monster.
:D
Walter

You know what, Honda does make V8 engines that are used in F1 racing that are capable of producing 1000 BHP, but my creation will be for drag and therefore will have loads and loads of fictional torque! 5000+BHP:flipa:

Most Honda dragsters are'nt even Vtec, and theres a reason for that. I can explain it if you like but I don't think it'll really matter.
Also, a wing like on the Meguires Focus is a bad idea. Recently, the team took out that wing and put a run-off wing and found better results.
You're gonna have wheelie bars right? :bloated:

EDIT: Don't forget the side windows :D
