how much can you spend on sub/amp? have you heard bandpass before? if you want something that sounds alright, go ported. cost less than bandpass and saves more space.

FYI bandpass boxes are better for hatches and open areas. Not sure what you have.

Just go to best buy or circuit city and buy whatever crap they have on sale...

if you want bandpass, then it's alright with me. as for subs, i would get either the alpine type E subs from circuit city, or the Rockford Fosgate HE at best buy. everything else they sell is poop. the subs shouldn't cost you more than 200. the alpines are on sale "2 for $129" (i think). those are decent subs. they are more sound quality oriented, as the rockfords are more SPL. if you're willing to buy online, then you'll save a lot of money. after you get your subs, then we can figure out what amp you'll need. :)

I would also recommend the Rockford Fosgates from BB. My friend has 2 12's and it sounds really nice.

yea. my neighbor has a 12" HE series in his 4runner. those subs are rated 200 watts RMS. . they are in a ported box i think, with lots of polyfill. he's sending it 200watts RMS with his alpine amp and i can hear it a 3 houses down. sadly people pay $100 because of the name RF. i would instead buy a lightning audio strike SVC sub. they are both the same thing just with different logo and a way cheaper. i believe i found one for $47.95 last time. besides, it'll be cool to see people drop their jaws after they find out they lost to a lightning audio. :p enough about the sub;)

oh yea, if the salesman tell you to buy something that you are unsure of...don't buy it. most likely they will try to rip you off.

If ya watch the advertisments from bestbuy, they usually will have a 2 for 1 deal on RF subs so you don't have to pay that much.

here in california, i don't see any RF HE in newspapers. the only RF i see are the Punch Z, which are poopy. they are usually (2) 12"s for 99.95. i rather get 2 strikes for that cost...

i was at bestbuy today and it seemed that 1-12" was better than 2-10s". Should i just get one 12 or 2 10's?

Go with a ported enclosure for the best of both worlds.

And two tens are better then one 12 -- but Best Buy is gay and doesnt hookup subs to be played at their highest potential.

yea. i've looked at their amps before. it was smaller than my profile amp. they had about 4 subs hooked up to one amp. also, those guys set the gains at low volume, so when i turn it up, the subs seemed like they were going to burst open. they should hire a real installers to do the job:D
