Rear hub bolt replacement

My old man was having his tire replaced when the installer cross-threaded the wheel bolt. Can a machinest re-thread this (car currently running w/ only 4 bolts)? If not...

Is the best option to replace the bolt from the hub assembly? If so, could someone post or link me to detailed instructions, including instructions on drum removal and tools needed, please? Also, is this something that can be done on a driveway w/ the car on jackstands and basic tools? Thanks much in advance.

Not sure if its the front tire or the rear tire.

If the wheel stud is unserveable, they can be replaced. You simply hammer the stud out and replace by screwing in. They have little cleats at the base for digging in to the metal.

If you doing the rear, the brake drum needs to come off. It entails taking the axle nut off and pounding the brake drum till it comes off. The stud fits into the brake drum.

If you are doing the front wheel, the hub need not come off. The new studs will fit one way, from the forward part of the hub assembly. It's a tight fit, but it will go.
