removing window cranks

my son just got a 1997 vw golf. the rear drivers side door will not lock. the door lock goes down but doesn't engage. how do i get the crank handle off to troubleshoot. thanks,franco

At the base of the crank on the circle part , you need to press arround the base tward the center and it should unlatch the crank and pull off.
