My 97 Taurus SOHC with 117k miles is giving me a P0364 code...Unknown Powertrain DTC (SAE Controlled; Ignition System or Misfire).
I can't find any info on repairing this problem. Has anyone else dealt with this one? I replaced the old, crapy, original spark plugs and plug wires, but it did not fix the problem. It also has a slightly rough idle.
Thanks

I just looked through Ford's trouble codes in the manual and there is no code P0364 listed

Now do you see my problem. How am I supposed to fix a code that doesn't exsist? I check three times. That is the correct code.

Let me keep looking. I will try to find it. It is possible it is for the coils. Usually those are a p0350's code though. WIll look at shop on Monday.

What kind of scanner are you using? The only 360's I can find is for the 6.8L engine. I don't think the taurus has an engine that big.

It's called a Davis CarChip. They are sold online and at Autozone.
See it here: http://www.microdaq.com/davis/automotive/carchip.php
Should I get a second opinion?

I would look into the possibility the code reader is reading the info wrong. Parts houses have a scan tool they will read the codes for you. Try a different one and see if the same code is there.
