hi, i`ve got a code up the other day when I ran a scan on my truck, and called the dealer to find more out. They said it was a transmission slip code, and it needed a service on the entire valve body. I called around, and an independent rebuilder, started telling me that the dealer would rip me off by working over the entire valve body. I`m thinking it might just be a sensor that is plugged into the valve body. I could be wrong, but I pulled the pan, inspected the dust, which was minimal for 118k mi. and no 'chunks' were attached to the magnet. The transmission is in very good condition, for it`s age, shifts just fine, never towed anything, never raced, etc. But the filter looked like hell, because it`s been in there since new i`d bet. I did a backyard check of everything, and it is all plugged in on the valve body. Installed new filter, gasket, and new fluid, and sped away. Do you suppose the filter could have caused enough restriction to cause the code to come up? Thanx fer any hep, Dave :banghead:

if you have a 4l60e transmission, valve body probably needs service, if you do a search on google you will find the 4l60e transmission valve body had some short commings. sonnax corp makes a sure cure 4l60e kit that address most of them, however, the instructions included with the kit assume that you are an experenced with transmissions and all associated parts..check out the sonnax web site if nothing else, sonnax.com. reconditioning the valve body beats a rebuild.

I was getting the 1870 code, along with the truck slamming from 1st into 2nd from a dead stop following a highway trip (common problem with this transmission)..from what two separate shops told me, that overall transmission is great, but the valve bodies made from about '96 to 2000 were badly made.
Had the Sonnax TCC "fix" done yesterday & got back on the highway...so far it's worked, though I'm still praying.
