Progres thread: Impreza WRC 2001

Hey. My second car ever. This time its subaru imprezza 2001. I liked the car soo much that i couldn't keave it in the store. It will be OOb, accept some CF decals and Seatbelts.

I started with the body, primed it...

After sanding, I sprayed it with Tamiya Chrome Silver to give a suby nice ground for Mica blue. (thanks Saša)

Here it is with 2 "dry" coats of mica blue (i waited about 30 minutes between coats)

And the first wetcoat is on!!!

So far so good! Keep your fingers crossed.
I still dont know how to polish the body. I have some rubbing compound and polishing paste. Should I glosscoat it before that or no? Advice is needed. Thanks.

That paint looks awesome

Great start Grega, clear coat it before polishing because you will ruine paint job by polishing directly on Mica blue.

Thanks Saša. I will gloss it before polishing (rubbing?). I have tons of work prepairing all the small parts. It's completely different than building the AC. Will post some photos soon.

I'm slowly working on all the parts and some of them are done.
Wheels are done, perhaps a coat of semi-gloss will go on the tires.

Dashboard is complete. I CF-ed what was necessary. A little knob here and there and i'm done.

Side mirror CF-ed and coated with 3 coats of gloss.

Boyd has been glosscoated, then the rubbing and polishing will start. Enjoy.

That CF decal work is WAY too good for a second model....

Sorry, but it's true. And the 1st time ever to use CF.
It's not too hard. Litres of microset :grinno: and my girl was without a hairdryer for a while... it was confiscated by me to heat uo the decals :iceslolan

Hey, he did say it's his second CAR ever...who knows, mabye he has a hell of a 1/12 motorcycle collection (would explain skill with the CF better than beginner's luck). Of course he could have a bunch of military or Sci-Fi kits under his belt as well.

And I swear that this is the second car ever....
(but i've made over 20 1/48 scale airplanes before... 10 in the last 3 years.) But You can't compare it. With car there is much more work and not so much weathering. Fo the CF, i might have beginners luck.

Decals are done. Damn tamiya pancakes. Really hard to place these on.
I had only one accident with decals, i'm still figuring it out how to solve that problem. But so far, so good.

Tamiya Decals are sometimes a little thick.. Microset and microsol helps, but they are thick..

Still this looks stunning so far.. Very good work..

Some work done. Body is almost complete. (i'm waiting for Tamiya wax to finish it off). I also completed a cockpit. (i've realised that the seatbelts are laced wrong. AGAIN!) :disappoin. But nevertheless, they won't be visible to well when the body is attached.
