Can anybody help me, how do you program a new key for a 2000 Odyssey ?
Here in Australia they have charged me AU$100 for a new key, I had to get it cut, but it still don't work.
Aparently you have to program it into your car, that will cost me a further AU$60.00.

I just got back from the dealer 5 minutes ago: California - I had to purchase an extra key for $41. I gave them the master key and they programmed it in 5 minutes for no charge. They told me that if I had brought in the master key after leaving with the new key there would be an extra charge of $80 for the labor.
I know that this doesn't solve your problem - just thought you might use the info in your quest for additional information.

What do you mean to program the key?
My ignition key looks normal like a regular key cutter can copy it.Is it electronic somehow?

Honda Dealers issue keys that have the thick plastic (with the Honda logo) at one end, right? Inside the plastic is a computer chip. That computer chip must be programmed with the code from your Odyssey's internal computer or the engine will turn over - but will never start. It is a security measure added to the Odyssey to prevent someone who is not the owner from manufacturing a key and stealing your car.
The dealer must program the key for you, or you can only use the key for opening doors - but cannot start the car.

Wow! You learn something everyday. I thought this was just a regular key that they fancied up by putting the plastic end on with the honda logo.
I am new to Hondas. This is my first . Just bought the 00 Odyssey EX 2 weekends ago
91K miles. $11,400. They were asking $15.5K.
