Has anybody successfully located a repair manual for an 02 3.5? I've seen manuals for other 2002 olds vehicles. Wondering if an Alero manual would work. Has anyone noticed that since Olds went out of business, the parts places don't give a crap about us?

To my knowledge there are no independent repair manuals for the Auroras. Get the get the GM factory Manuals for your model, which are much better than any independent manual could ever be. Check eBay they often can be found on auction, at lower prices. This firm also publishes the originals for a higher price:

I may just have to do this. The main reason why I wanted the book was to find out some info about my 3.5 engine. Dealership said the next closest thing I could get would be a repair manual for an intrigue since the 3.5 was offered in that as well.

It's to the Aurora owner's advantage to learn as much as possible about the entire system. I personally have a '01 3.5, the GM factory manuals for this model consists of three pretty hefty books! They cover everthing from wiring diagrams, engine, transmission operation, to body work! I paid around $80.00 bucks for the set on eBay, but they've more than paid for themselves by the DIY repairs, they've enabled me to do! The combination of a good OBDII hardware or software scantool (I use Auto-enginuity PC software) and these manuals, are a must for any serious Aurora owner!

Oh, I agree that it is importants to know about the entire system. But, really, the only thing that has me a little perplexed is the engine. Took me a while just to find the darned spark plugs. My last car was a 99 lumina 3.8SOHC. The DOHC looks like iit has some reduntant parts, as well as a few parts I can't identify. I probably should have been a little clearer in the original post. At the very least I want to try and find a decent diagram of the engine bay. Oh the lumina I knew where everything was. The new engine bay seems wierd to me only for the fact that common items (PCV valves, egr, fuel pressure regulator, maf, etc...) look somewhat different. I'm starting to understand the whole thing thse. BTW, it's good to know that those manuals are worth the money. I was thinking about getting a set but wanted to know if other people thought they were worth the money. But hey, when no one gives a crap about whether or not your luxury car runs or not, it's not like one really has a choice. :)

Before I spend an arm and a leg I want to look into something else first. I did just purchase a 2 volume set of floor manuals from the GM plant where the car was built, on eBay. It's pretty much a service manual, but it's not hard bound or anything. I just hope this will do as I only spent 40 bucks on the set. We'll see!
