I'm wondering if anyone has ever tried installing an overhead console in their blazer. Mine hasn't ever had one, and i'm curious about installing one. I'm also wondering about switching my rear view mirror with an auto tint mirror. any help would be great. thanks

It's pretty easy to install; I just did mine.
Find someone who has a console and pull theirs' down; you'll see some large areas where the headliner has been cut back, right above where the lights in the console are. Make a template of this cut out and cut yours accordingly. This is to prevent the headliner from heating up / distorting / catching fire if the lights are left on for an extended period of time.
The compass has 5 of 6 wires, one of which is switched power. Use that to power the auto-dimming mirror. You can also T off this wire and provide power for a radar detector if you have one (you can mount the detector right above the mirror, out of the way, without having wires dangling down to the cigarette lighter). Also, the detector will be switched power, so it'll turn on and off with the ignition, and won't drain the battery if the detector were left on with the car off.
There are 3 clips needed to mount the console to the ceiling; they snap into the rectangular holes you should already have under the headliner.
One thing I found is you can't buy the two rear clips; GM doesn't even have a part number for them (kinda screwy, but I checked 3 dealerships!). I did find some clips that close, and was able to grind them down to fit.
The single front clip is available from the dealer, as is the temperature sending unit that mounts behind the grille.
One other option is to get these parts from a salvage yard.
Hope this helps.
