big handling problem in the rain

ok i have a 95 eagle talon eSI with 205/55-16 on 91 eclipse wheels.
ok well if it is raining or the roads are wet i can not drive over 30mph and the rear tires wear in like 1 1/2-2 months and i was told i have to much tire pressure and i was running about 35psi. well after i was told that i started running about 30psi and it didnt fix the handling..i dont know about the wear yet. and the handling problem is all in the rear and if its dry it sticks pretty good to the road. also the front tires are dunlop GT Qualifiers and the back ones are goodyear LS. if anone can help u can IM me on Xx95DSMxX or email me at [email protected] thanx for any help

1. Your front tires should wear faster than the rears.

2. Get 4 of the same damn tire, and rotate every 6-8k miles. Make sure you get something other than the $35 POS tires.

3. Get an alignment.

4. 35 psi should be just fine, 30 psi is too low IMO

5. Take corners slower, don't drive like a person always trying to hug corners for all they got.

I agree with what eclipse said... It should say on the tire wall what the correct tire pressure is.
The tires I had on my old spyder were "fuzion" brand... more of a summer performance tire and the psi for those was about 44psi...I never had any issues with them in rain or wet conditions... besides the snow :)
Definately have all 4 tires the same. Alignment would be a good thing...

If I remember correctly.... overinflated tires wear more in the middle of the tire and underinflated tires wear more on the outer edges...
If the tires are wearing more on the inside or outside than an alignment is probably needed...

ok well i did have all 4 tires the same and thats when i had all 4 dunlops gt qualifiers and i still had to same problem and they were almost $80 a piece.
and the back tires wear evenly across the back. and the whole driving slow thing...i cant even drive the speed limit its not like im driving 50mph trying to take turns. anything over 30mph and the ass end slides around like crazy

I think there's a short circuit somewhere between the steering wheel and drivers seat.


Seriously, either

A) You can't drive
B) You need better tires
C) You need to put some weight in the ass end

Comon sense, you can't drive in the rain like you do in dry weather, you have to be more cautious.

im gonna have to say i need better tires ive never had a problem driving the speen limit in the rain...and i figure i got plenty of extra weight in the ass end with 2 kicker compVR 12"s in a full size sealed box...but none of this explains the excessive rear tire wear

First off no matter how bad you drive you shouldn't go through tires in 1 1/2 months. Is the car lowered? If you just slap springs on you mess up the camber, although this would not explain the problems with driving in the rain. Is you suspension really bad? Check that out too, or unbalanced/bent rims could have similar effects.

no it is stock height the only difference is the wheel size i got 16's instead of the stock 14's but they were on it when i bought it. i dont know bout the suspension really i am planning to go get it checked out but not really sure if its gonna be worth fixing cuz the tranny is messed up in it now and i sure dont have money to get a new tranny

In general, your tire pressure should be 5psi under the maximum. So if it say's 44psi is maximum, you should be @ 39psi. Also, when checking your tire pressure, it's a good idea to check your spare tire pressure as most people neglect this issue.

Don't check your tire pressure with those cheap $.99 pencil guages either. I went to a parts store one day borrowed all of the guages in the display to check my tires and there was a 10psi range in them. Go with an electronic guage if you can.

I hate electronic gauges. i use basic ones that you can pick up at Les Schwab

go to walmart n buy those keychain electronic , they are pretty good.
