MPG on a 98 V6

if i dont hammer it at every green light, what will my MPG be like with a 98 V6?

25 MPG would be my guess.
The V6 and the V8 were about the same, and I could get about 25 MPG when I was stock.

how could i help improve MPG?

More air in....get it out faster.

yea, also would lighten it up help too? like getting rid of the rear seats? not like any one is gonna be back there anyway, and i might be able to sell the seats to get me starts on my suspension.

Selling stuff like that will kill your re-sell value. Hard to say if that is a good idea.

Lighten it up....take out shit you don't need. If you drive it everyday, you need damn near everything it came with. :lol:

not really, AAA will come out an change my tire for me, or atleast tow me to place so i can get a new one put on, but for now i will keep the spare and shit, but i dont plan on ever selling my car, ever.

im gonna see about getting one of those 3'' aluminum drive shafts off of john, if he has any left.

wow, i would have thought v6s would be getting better gas mileage than that... since my LT headers im getting 25mpg with my LT1 driving hard

Also keep using STP.. not every other fuel tank like they want you too, but like every 5 tanks or so, goto wal*mart with someone who's 18, if you're not and buy some there, like the most expensive one is like 150 or so, way better than the STPs that you could buy at the gas station they overcharge.. and ask for about 5 bucks.

yea, im 20... with a license :D i shouldnt have a problem getting to wal mart nor buying the stuff.

hell when we drove to the f body gathering my v6 and moded v8's ran about the same on gas, we went from tampa to atl on a tank, we filled up about 50 miles outside of atlanta. i was near a quater of a tank and they were either the same or a bit over what i had. the 8's do great in 6th gear im telling u. i thought i would kill them in gas milage but i was wrong, no big difference

Oh Philly, for sure. There's like a 1 mpg difference between V8s and the V6s of 4th gen Maros.

Yup, I get like 15/19 in town and 25/29 freeway depending on slamming the gas, spirited driving etc right now i have 350 on my gauge and have like 2-3 gallons left in the tank 250 was driving freeway

Driving with avery heavy foot and on the highway constalty going between 80 and 120, I average 20.... if I took it easy I could prolly make that a lot closer than 30.

The funniest part is that on long trips, I get better milage than my dad's hyundai elantra

My Camaro had BAD gas mileage, but I do remember accelerating quickly whenever I could. :D:D:D:D

oh and it's been since at LEAST october '03 (when i got the car) that I've had a tune-up... yea I'm probably about due for one

Yeah you were due about the first time you got 30000 miles on your car or the first 3 months you had it. Probably have messed up wires and black plugs, I know I did because the idiot who had it before me didnt give it a tune up :swear:

you guys are making 25mpg with a V6? thats a lot better than I thought, I usually make 25-27 with my 4 banger driving it VERY nicely. Maybe Miami's stop and go traffic is that much worse than wherever you guys live.

Highly doubt it, Dallas/FT Worth is real bad with traffic here, im sure every major city is, my Monte though gets me about 30 MPG too :D
