Close call with the cops

Keep in mind I have no back seats but seatbelts there, dented up hood, license plate in the windshield, and the numbers still on my windshield from sunday.
Also, that I have a hearing at the DMV Sept. 1 because of technical BS that I might lose my license even though I only have one point.
So I wake up at 12 today, and get a call at 1 from a friend of mine. Her and a friend have break from volleyball practice from 12 till 1 so call me for a ride to this smoothie place a few towns away. I say alright, cool, so I go pick them up and we head out there. We go, we're coming back, we're on route 9W for those of you who know it, in englewood cliffs. I see that they have 10 min till their practice and we were about 12 minutes away, so I step on it a little.
I realize I'm doing 80 in a 40 (it's like a mini-highway, 2 lanes each way, 40 mph but could be 50-55, etc), shift it into D and start braking... red light ahead so I stop at it, and bam, cop pulls up right behind me. I start thinking "FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK," and wait for him to pull me over. He does, right int he middle of the road (it's 2 lanes each way, he puleld me over in the right lane, no shoulder or anything) (keep in mind also my right blinker decides when it does and doesnt want to work... decided it didnt so good thing I have hazards  )
I am sitting there thinking about how completely screwed I am, thinking of all the things I could get tickets for... 80 in a 40, passing on the right, passenger in the back w/o a seat (is that against the law?), front plate, obstruction of view... you get the point.
He comes up, asks for license and registration. I give them to him, he says "wheres your front license plate?" I said, "it's right here in my windshield officer, i was in an accident in april and just got my car back on the road about a month ago, I am waiting for a new bracket to come in." He sorta questioned why it's taking so long to get a new bracket, but then moved on.
"And what's with the muffler? It's too loud." Now, this pissed me off since it's not really that loud (Magnaflow cat and catback), and this is the 2nd time a cop has asked me about it. I told him, "My stock one rusted through, I replaced it with this, it was cheaper than a GM replacement and the company said it's certifie 50 state legal." He shook his head again, and said "It's too loud."
Then was the one I was waiting for... "Where are you trying to get to?" I told him how I had to get them back to a practice at 1:00 at Tenafly high school (it was about 12:57 now, I was in the next town over). This was what I knew I was guilty on tho, so I said "I was trying to get them back in time, I'm sorry, officer." He went back to his car.
I was thinking once again on how fucked I was, thinking "okay, I can fight the exhaust ticket and fight or just pay the license one, but speeding... fuck...". I was suprised when only a couple minutes later he got out of his car, and I saw he only had my license, reg and insurance in his hand. He comes up to me and says "I'm not gonna write you anything this time, but get those taken care of, the plate and muffler, otherwise no break next time, OK?" I was so shocked by this that I thanked him at least 5 times lol, and left in peace.
Close goddamn call.....

He may have seemed like an a$$ at first, but he sure wasn't. I really appreciate it when they pull you over and scare you good but don't stick it to you.

hm, I thought that !cat was about a 600 dollar ticket and possible imprisonment since it's a national law

Nope, it isnt. That's pretty queer though, looking to see if you got a cat. Why the hell would he want you to run over one anyways? (I know, i know, im joking :grinno: )

dont forget hes also in canada.
and btw, if your car was built before the year the cats came out as factory then your car doesnt have one and doesnt need one, and you can just fight the ticket.

Cat's were required in the US starting in 1973 and gradually phased in on all cars by 1981, depending on whether it could meet federal emission standards or not. Most of the imports didn't have cats until the late 70's and early 80's, but most of the domestic cars had them by 1976 or so.
