Btw, just what IS that sensor.....

that you have to slide into your CAI when you install it? It's just a little plastic piece of shit, what does it do?

That little peice of shit that you refer too is the IAT sensor. Without it, your check engine light would come on and you computer would not be able to measure the proper amount of fuel to inject due to not being able to measure the air coming in. The IAT (intake air temperature) sensor is one value that is needed to compute the speed density formula so the computer can measure how much air is coming into the intake manifold. So, as you can see, i think calling it a little peice of shit is a little ignorant :) j/k, but it is very important.

well, i'd say for about 10% of the time i've owned the car, it's been out of the intake and lying against the manifold, or on top of a plug wire. Does it need to go all the way into the bung or what? How does it work, because it feels like a piece of hard plastic on the end. I passed the computer emissions test (as in, not the tailpipe test) with flying colors, and i'm sure it was out then.
Don't take offense, btw, i know what you're saying. Believe me, i wish i could have taken classes about my engine in college, but it wouldn't have counted towards my major.:( If it makes you feel any better, that's one of only 2 or 3 things under my hood i'm not familiar with, and at least one of them is an insect.
Back in 1999, i was putting headers on a 93 accord ex, and the guy helping us said the "strap" was in the way, and yanked out the 02 sensor. Fun times.

did you know that if you unplug that little sensor, and plug a 100k ohm resistor into the contacts in the plug, you will get more power. what that does is tricks the computer into thinking that the motor is being fed alot more air, so in turn dumps more fuel into the motor. more fuel, more power. on the other hand, you dont want to put anything bigger than that in the ait sensor plug because you could start to burn shit inside your motor. one of the oldest tricks in the book
