Starting Problems

I am having some major starting problems.
I own a '91 Sonoma 4.3 with over 300,000mi on it. Recently it started to screw up. First, it would take about 10 seconds of cranking to get the thing started. After that, it ran fine. Last night, we ran it out of gas (with no help with the raising gas prices) filled it up again, and now it won't start at all.
We took a test light to the wires going to the gas tank and found no power. But the relay has power. I don't know now if it's the iginition switch or something else.
Please help. This is driving me NUTS! :banghead:
